Dawn Marie Alves-Rice
Dr. Dawn Marie Alves-Rice, age 60, passed away at Enloe Hospital on Thursday, June 18th, 2020 in Chico, California. She was born on September 11th, 1959 at Kingsburg Hospital to Donald “Don” and Dorothy (Ludlow) Anderson. Dawn lived in Denver, Washington DC, Imperial, Redding, Auburn, Carson City and Orland. Dawn graduated from Orland High School in 1977, and received her veterinarian degree from UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. Dawn, along with her husband Rob, owned and operated of All About Pets and Equine in Chico, California.
Dawn had a passion for horses and “all things animal”, and enjoyed the company of her family, friends, co-workers and clients. Dawn was a vibrant and compassionate soul, inspiring those around her, and lighting up every room she entered. She dedicated her time and skills caring for animals in need and enjoyed the company of her four dogs, three cats, and numerous birds at home. In their limited free time, Dawn and Rob enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Hawaii and the wine country. Dawn leaves behind a legacy that will live on forever in the lives and memories of those she touched along the way.
Dawn was preceded in death by her mother Dorothy Ann (Ludlow) Anderson, her grandparents Cleve and Dorothy Anderson, her grandparents Ordi and Bertha Ludlow, and her Uncle Tom Ludlow.
Dawn is survived by her husband of 15 years, Rob Rice, her three sons Christopher (Desiree) Alves, Scott (Madison) Alves, and Jared Alves, her two step children, Jared Rice and Tracy Rice, her father Don (Mona) Anderson, her brother Dave (Donna) Anderson, and her three grandchildren, Lane, Brielle and Evelyn Alves.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 27th, 2020 at 3pm at Dawn and Rob’s home in Chico.
